THE NEW WHATSUB WEBSITE TURNS ONE!
One year ago, WHATSUB relaunched its new website and welcomed many new members. Following a successful trial run last November with our Digital Lunch Meeting, we are planning to expand this format to a bi-annual event! With our anniversary in mind, we have reached out to our members – to you – and three researchers are excited to present themselves, their academic journey and their research.
Our new format “SPOTLIGHT ON WOMEN RESEARCHERS” welcomes
- Jun.-Prof. Dr. Leonie Esters: Meteorology, Climate Monitoring
- Dr. Eva Maria Hille: (Social-)Ethics, AI Ethics
- Dr. Rebekka Einenkel-Ulrich: Gynecology, Endocrinology & Reproductive Medicine
Please note that the Digital Lunch Meeting is exclusively open to members of the WHATSUB network. If you are not yet a member, you are very welcome to join the network! Simply register for the mailing list, and you will receive the link to the online event via the mailing list shortly before the event takes place.
Leonie Esters is an Assistant Professor of Meteorology and heads the ‘Climate Monitoring’ research group. Using modern observational techniques and field measurements, she studies exchange processes between air and water (Oceans, Lakes, and Rivers), as well as between air and land. Since the oceans are a little farther from Bonn, her current research focuses on the Rhine. Alongside her research, she advocates for gender equality in science with a particular focus on scientists with children.
Eva Maria Hille is an AI ethicist and postdoctoral researcher at the Department of (Social) Ethics. Her research examines the development and use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, with a particular focus on questions of human control and bias. Alongside her research, she is particularly committed to communicating and making science accessible, for example through public workshops, science slams, and events for children and youth. As co-founder of the ‘Feminist AI’ network at the University of Bonn, she advocates for greater visibility of women* in science.
Dr. Rebekka Einenkel-Ulrich heads the Research Lab of Gynaecological Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine at the UKB. Her research focuses on questions in Reproductive Medicine, with a particular emphasis on Reproductive Immunology and the role of immune processes in implantation and pregnancy. Another key area of her work is Fertility Preservation. Alongside her research, she is also involved in science communication, supporting outreach formats both in front of and behind the scenes.
We look forward to welcoming you to the WHATSUB network and to the Digital Lunch Meeting!
