"Längst nicht so brillant wie erhofft" – Lecture
Generative AI is often presented as a groundbreaking technological innovation. At the same time, however, increasingly problematic side effects are becoming apparent: the mass production of synthetic content and the erosion of copyright frameworks, unreliable results in sensitive areas, and new vulnerabilities to phishing and malware. The environmental costs are particularly critical: AI data centers consume large amounts of energy and resources, and their expansion puts pressure on the achievement of global climate targets and can lead to significant amounts of electronic waste in the long term.
In her talk, Dr. Constanze Kurz, computer scientist, publicist, and spokesperson for the Chaos Computer Club, combines technical analysis with a critical assessment of the social and ecological implications of generative AI.
The talk will be followed by a fireside chat with guided questions and room for open discussion.
This talk will be in German.
