In order to highlight to the broad spectrum of classes touching on issues of gender and/or diversity taught in Bonn and listed on BASIS, we have put together this course catalog. We’re just thrilled to see the range and the sheer amount of exciting classes on offer at the University!
Please note: the catalog language is German, but many of the listings (and many of the classes) are in English.

Current Courses

If the standard of excellence is to be maintained in teaching across all disciplines, incorporating aspects of gender and diversity is indispensable. The catalog gives an overview of all courses taught at the University of Bonn touching on issues of gender and/or diversity. The disciplines featured include Geography, Catholic Theology, Sociology, Media Studies and Musicology and many more.

The Gender and Diversity Course Catalog is published at the start of every new semester and can be downloaded from our homepage.

Are you running or attending a course touching on these issues that is not included in our catalog, or would you like to have changes made to your listing? You can get in touch via e-mail to Natascha Compes (compes[at]zgb.uni-bonn.de) with any questions, requests or information. Of course, we also encourage students to tell us about any relevant classes we may have missed.

Gender Curricula

Are you looking for inspiration on how to integrating the contents of (subject-specific) women's and gender studies into your courses? The Women's and Gender Research Network NRW has developed a model database of “gender curricula” including almost 60 disciplines. Originally developed to foster gender equality during the introduction of B.A. and M.A. degrees in Germany and to ensure gender equality in accreditation, it has grown to be a unique compendium illustrating ways of including insights from gender studies in nearly every degree program available in Germany and offering input from experts in each field.

It covers the following areas:

  • Course objectives
  • Teaching content/subject-specific gender studies content
  • Integration of gender studies content into the curriculum
  • Degree stage
