The Central Gender Equality Officer

The Central Gender Equality Officer's tasks and the focus of gender equality work at the University of Bonn are:

  • advising and supporting the Rectorate in fulfilling the gender equality objectives
  • participating in all central University committees such as the University Council, the Rectorate and the Senate
  • participating in all organizational and structural measures taken by the University
  • accompanying and monitoring all professorship appointment procedures at the University
  • accompanying and monitoring all staffing procedures at the University
  • participating in all human resources measures taken by the University, such as employing and dismissing individuals, salary upgrades and transfers
  • participating in the development, the intermediary and the final evaluation of the University’s Reference Framework for Gender Equality and Gender Equality Plans
  • implementing and expanding the Gender Equality Office’s measures and programs supporting women (early-career) researchers, including counseling on individual measures
  • gender equality controlling, including the evaluation of measures, internal and external reporting (DFG reports, applications, concepts)
  • planning and implementing initiatives and campaigns on issues relating to gender equality
  • gender consulting – counseling for third-party funded projects working on applications, including support in implementing gender equality measures
  • counseling all members of the University on questions of gender equality
  • counseling on the topic of sexualized harassment and discrimination
  • counseling in the context of the LGBTQIA* contact point
  • cultivating cooperation within the University and initiating shared projects with the Office of Family Services, Human Resource Development, Dual Career, Graduate Center, General Students’ Committee, Network for Secretaries in Higher Education, etc.
  • actively participating in relevant networks and associations, such as the Federal and State Conferences of Gender Equality Officers in Higher Education, mentoring networks and networks for gender consulting

The Central Gender Equality Officer's rights and responsibilities are recorded in the Higher Education Act and the Equal Opportunities Act of North Rhine-Westphalia.
