Achievements

In recent years, the University of Bonn has successfully participated in various federal and state-wide initiatives and programs for the promotion of equal opportunities:

Professor Program of the Federal and State Governments (BMBF)

In 2008, the federal and state governments launched this program with the aim of specifically increasing the number of female professors at universities and strengthening equality policy structures at universities. The program is now in its second funding period and is to be continued at the end of 2017 with a third funding phase. An evaluation report on the female professor program was submitted in 2017 by the CEWS (Competence Center for Women in Science and Research).

The University of Bonn successfully participated in the first two funding phases. Both the gender equality concept and the documentation for implementing the gender equality concept were assessed positively. In the first phase of the program, the university was able to attract funding for three regular professorships, and in the second round funding was granted for three anticipatory professorships.

State Program for Gender Equal Universities

The State Program for Gender Equality was launched in 2012 by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research. In addition to supporting Equal Opportunities Officer at universities, the next generation of scientists should be promoted as well as gender research.

The University of Bonn was awarded the contract for two junior professorships in both the first and second program phases.

German Research Foundation's Research-Oriented Equality Standards

In 2008, the General Assembly of the DFG (German Research Foundation) adopted the Research-Oriented Equality Standard with the aim of significantly increasing the proportion of women in all scientific career stages. Against the backdrop of defined personnel and structural standards for a sustainable equality policy, submitted voluntary commitments (2009), interim reports (2011) and final reports (2013) were assessed by a DFG working group.

The University of Bonn was classified with its final report in stage 3: "a convincing overall concept is already predominantly implemented."
