DESCRIPTION:This event has been canceled.\nIn this workshop participants w
 ill learn how to understand German academic culture\, navigate cultural ex
 pectations within a research setting\, and build strategies for positive i
 ntercultural interactions. We consider the peculiarities of relationships 
 with supervisors\, colleagues and the university administration in Germany
 \, and advice is given on roles\, responsibilities\, and professional cond
 uct. Another theme to be discussed is the impact of culture shock in order
  to explore ways to mitigate its effects.\n\nThrough group interaction the
  participants will learn methods for reflecting on their experiences in an
  intercultural academic setting. We will consider the particular challenge
 s faced by international students. There will be the opportunity to explor
 e specific personal challenges.
